THREE TO SEE

Ty Virgin, running back

His breakout junior season included 15 rushing touchdowns and 5.7 yards per carry.

Bryan Benavente, athlete

Caught two touchdown passes for the Sun Devils while also playing cornerback and returning punts and kicks in 2018.

Ajani Shelton, linebacker

Still new to the position, has all the measurables and bloodlines to become a dominant defensive stopper.

OUTLOOK

The Sun Devils have managed only three wins over the past two seasons, but an experienced group of seniors return that led the team in every major category last year.

With teams keying on running back Ty Virgin, the passing game should open up more in QB Carson Taumoepeau’s second varsity season.

Mt. Carmel’s five toughest games of the season are on the road, which will be a real test to a team that looks to be improved in 2019.
