Top 50 players to watch in San Diego Section high school baseball

Scorebook Live California reporter Bodie DeSilva breaks down the Top 50 high school baseball players to watch this season in the San Diego Section.

TOP 50 PLAYERS IN SAN DIEGO SECTION BASEBALL

Nathan Barraza – senior – 3B – Mission Hills HS

Barraza hit .386 with nine doubles and two home runs last season. He’s signed with Cal State Northridge.

Christian Becerra – senior – RHP – Madison HS

Becerra begins his senior season with a career record of 14-6 and a 2.91 ERA. He’s signed with Cal State San Marcos.

Thomas Caneday – senior – RHP – Helix HS

Threw a no-hitter against La Costa Canyon in last season’s Open Division playoffs. He’s signed with Nevada.

Kyle Carr – senior – LHP/OF – San Marcos HS

Carr is one of San Diego’s best two-way players and has shown a fastball in the mid-90’s. He’s signed with USD.

Kyle Casper – senior – OF – Valhalla HS

Casper has 105 hits and a .379 average over his first three varsity seasons. He’s signed with Arizona.

Ray Cebulski – junior – RHP – Eastlake HS

Cebulski was 7-0 with a 1.11 ERA last season. He’s committed to Long Beach State.

Mark Cervantes – senior – 1B/LHP – Calvary Christian Academy

Hit .458 with six home runs last season. He’s 8-2 career on the mound with 94 strikeouts in less than 50 innings.

Cole Colleran – senior – LHP/1B – Canyon Crest Academy

Colleran has a 1.50 ERA in 130 career varsity innings and seven home runs. He’s signed with USD.

Tavita Faasua – senior – 1B – Oceanside HS

Faasua hit .431 with three home runs and three doubles for the Pirates last season.

Charlie Fick – junior – C – Rancho Bernardo HS

Fick is an excellent catcher and hit .301 with two home runs during his first varsity season. He’s committed to Cal State Fullerton.

Carter Foss – junior – RHP – Scripps Ranch HS

5-1 with a 1.34 ERA as a sophomore and also hit .314 with five doubles.

Aaron Garcia – junior – C/1B – Olympian HS

Garcia hit .446 with five doubles and three home runs last season.

Tyler Glowacki – junior – OF/LHP – Santana HS

Glowacki makes a big impact on the mound, at the plate and in the field for the Sultans. He’s committed to San Diego State.

Ethan Gourson – junior – SS – Point Loma HS

Gourson hit .435 with three home runs as a sophomore. He’s committed to Arizona.

Jason Hall – sophomore – C – San Pasqual HS

Hall burst onto the scene by hitting .430 with ten doubles last season as a freshman.

Carson Hamro – senior – RHP – Rancho Buena Vista HS

Hamro has struck out 103 batters in 83 career innings. He’s shown a low-90’s fastball and has signed with UCLA.

Kian Hogan – senior – OF/LHP – Santa Fe Christian HS

Hogan was 8-3 with a 1.62 ERA last season for the Eagles and patrols centerfield when he’s not on the mound.

Joseph Ingrassia – senior – LHP/OF – Valhalla HS

Ingrassia struck out 114 batters in only 66 and a third innings last season. He’s signed to UC Santa Barbara.

Max Jones – senior – RHP – Patrick Henry HS

Jones had a 7-1 record with a 1.82 ERA during his junior season. He’s signed with USF.

EJ Kreutzmann – senior – OF/RHP – La Jolla Country Day School

Kreutzmann threw for over 5,000 yards and accounted for 69 touchdowns this past football season in his “secondary” sport. He struck out 58 batters last season and also hit five home runs. He’s signed with Columbia.

Austin Machado – senior – C – La Costa Canyon HS

Machado was an All-CIF selection and had an on-base percentage of .482 last season.

Luca Martinez – senior – INF – San Marcos HS

Martinez has put up big numbers for the Knights for several seasons. He’s signed with Washington State.

Marcelo Mayer – junior – SS – Eastlake HS

Mayer is the top junior prospect in San Diego. He’s committed to USC.

Mateo Medina – senior – OF – Patrick Henry HS

Hit. 350 with 15 doubles as a junior. He’s signed with San Francisco State.

Leo Mosby – senior – SS/RHP – Westview HS

Mosby has 72 hits in his first three varsity seasons and a 7-2 career record on the mound. He’s signed with UC Santa Barbara.

Nick Naccarato – senior – OF – Sage Creek HS

Naccarato hit .375 and stole 27 bases last season. He’s signed with USF.

Nathan Nankil – senior – OF/RHP – Bonita Vista HS

Nankil has 75 career hits over three seasons and had an ERA of 0.97 during his junior season. He’s signed with Cal State Fullerton.

Josue Navarro – senior – C – Fallbrook HS

Navarro is one of the section’s top unsigned seniors. He hit .382 last season with seven home runs.

Garret Ostrander – senior – SS/RHP – Del Norte HS

Ostrander has a career on-base percentage of .424 to go along with 23 stolen bases. He had a 2.38 ERA for the Nighthawks last season.

Hunter Otjen – senior – RHP/OF – Point Loma HS

Otjen was 7-0 with a 1.17 ERA last season and also hit four home runs. He’s headed to Point Loma Nazarene.

TK Parker – senior – INF – Granite Hills HS

Parker was an All-CIF selection last season for the Eagles. He’s signed with Long Beach State.

Angelo Peraza – senior – C – St. Augustine HS

Peraza has a career on-base percentage of .433 and has stolen 50 bases over his first three varsity seasons. He’s signed with USD.

Fisher Pyatt – senior – SS – St. Augustine HS

Pyatt has 84 hits and six home runs over his first three varsity seasons. He’s signed with San Diego State.

Luke Reece – senior – SS – Serra HS

Reece is closing in on 100 career hits and hit four home runs last season. He’s signed with Cal State San Marcos.

Eli Rejto – senior – 3B/1B – Canyon Crest Academy

Rejto hit .483 with ten doubles last season in his first varsity season.

Alonzo Richardson – senior – RHP – Helix HS

Richardson has put up great numbers on the mound and at the plate over the past three seasons. He’s signed with San Diego State.

Ivran Romero – senior – RHP/3B – Poway HS

Romero has a 13-1 career record with a 1.09 ERA in 96.2 career innings. He’s signed with USD.

Kevin Romero – senior – C – Morse HS

He hit .441 last season with seven doubles, four triples, and two home runs to help Morse win their first CIF Title.

Cooper Rons – senior – RHP – Cathedral Catholic HS

Rons struck out 37 batters and had a 0.67 ERA last season. He’s signed with UC Santa Barbara.

Thomas Saggese – senior – SS – Carlsbad HS

Saggese hit .422 last season and led the section with ten home runs. He’s signed with Pepperdine.

Shunsuke Sakaino – junior – MIF – Rancho Bernardo HS

Sakaino hit .333 with two home runs last season. He’s committed to Cal State Northridge.

Kai Saterstrom – senior – SS/2B – Eastlake HS

He hit .508 with three home runs last season for High Tech HS. He’ll play his senior season for Eastlake before he heads to SDSU.

Peyton Schulze – junior – 3B/RHP – Rancho Bernardo HS

Hit .352 with 11 doubles as a sophomore. He’s committed to Long Beach State.

Quincy Scott – junior – OF – Mission Hills HS

Scott hit .312 with a home run and six doubles as a sophomore for the Grizzlies.

Kevin Sim – senior – 3B – Torrey Pines HS

Sim played in the Perfect Game All-American Classic and the Under Armour All-American game this past summer. He’s signed with USD.

Jordan Thompson – senior – SS/RHP – Helix HS

Thompson played in the Perfect Game All-American Classic this summer. He’s headed to LSU.

Trevor Tishenkel – senior – OF – Poway HS

He has 68 hits and a .393 on-base percentage over his first three varsity seasons. He’s signed with Cal.

Zavien Watson – senior – 3B – Cathedral Catholic HS

Watson finished his football career with over 2,000 rushing yards and has a career on-base percentage of .411 on the baseball diamond. He’s signed with Arizona.

Jaden Wilcox – junior – RHP – Grossmont HS

Wilcox had a 5-3 record with a 2.25 ERA and 62 strikeouts during his sophomore season.

Carson Williams – junior – RHP/OF – Torrey Pines HS

Williams was called up from the junior varsity a few games into last season and proceeded to go 6-2 with a 1.69 ERA and hit three home runs. He’s committed to Cal.
