SBLive’s San Diego Section Top 10 Football Rankings: No. 6 Torrey Pines set to host No. 5 Mission Hills

The eighth week of football games in the San Diego Section resulted in only one change in the top 10. Helix dropped out of the top 10 after losing to Mission Viejo and evening their record at 3-3. Madison jumped back into the rankings at No. 10 following Friday’s comeback win against St. Augustine.

Cathedral Catholic remains at No. 1 in the latest SBLive Top 10 San Diego Section high school football rankings (Oct. 11), after having their bye week to prepare for St. Augustine. The rankings are compiled by reporter Bodie De Silva and will be released every Monday throughout the fall 2021 season.

SBLIVE’S SAN DIEGO SECTION TOP 10

Oct. 11, 2021

1. Cathedral Catholic (5-2)

The Dons were off on Friday and will host rival St. Augustine on Friday night.

2. Carlsbad (7-0)

Carlsbad cruised to a 25-point win over San Marcos. They’ll head north to play Oceanside Friday.

Last week: 2

3. Lincoln (6-1)

Lincoln took down La Jolla and will have a bye week before finishing up the regular season.

4. Mater Dei Catholic (6-0)

The Crusaders raced past Otay Ranch and will host Eastlake this week.

Last week: 4

5. Mission Hills (5-2)

Mission Hills took care of Rancho Bernardo at home and will battle Torrey Pines this week.

Last week: 5

6. Torrey Pines (4-2)

The Falcons won by 28 points at El Camino will host Mission Hills this week. The loser of the game will have a tough path towards qualifying for the open division playoffs.

7. Scripps Ranch (6-0)

The undefeated Falcons blew out Morse and will travel to Christian looking to stay on top of the Eastern League standings.

Last week: 7

8. Mt. Carmel (7-0)

Mt. Carmel used a big defensive performance to take down Del Norte at home. They’ll be challenged with Rancho Bernardo on Friday.

Last week: 8

9. Poway (5-2)

The Titans won a close won at Grossmont on Friday. They’ll host Westview looking to keep pace with Rancho Bernardo and Mt. Carmel in the Palomar League.

Last week: 10

10. Madison (5-2)

Madison came from behind against St. Augustine to beat the Saints, 29-22. They’ll play at La Jolla on Friday.
