Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Southern California High School Athlete of the Week for Aug. 30 – Sept. 5 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Shanelle Puetz, Mater Dei volleyball: In straight-set wins over Redondo Union and Los Alamitos, Puetz totaled 67 assists, 11 digs and 3 aces.

Allie Landa, La Canada volleyball: In a 3-0 win over Flintridge Sacred Heart, Landa had 28 assists, 9 digs and 4 aces.

Cooper Whitton, Santa Fe Christian RB/DE: Whitton had six carries for 136 yards and three touchdowns to help the Eagles take down Francis Parker. He also had two tackles and a sack on defense.

Nico Iamaleava, Warren QB: Iamaleava passed for 350 yards and six touchdowns to help the Bears take down Grossmont 40-7 on Friday.

Trey White, Eastlake DE: White had nine tackles and five sacks to lead Eastlake to an 18-14 road win over La Habra.

Jayden Virgin, Mt. Carmel LB/TE: Virgin had seven tackles, three sacks, and a blocked punt to help the Sundevils shutout Valley Center. He also caught three passes for 54 yards.

Omar Hammond, Patrick Henry DB/WR: Hammond returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown, caught two passes for 65 yards and a touchdown and also added a 90-yard rush in the win for the Patriots.

Cole Robertson, San Clemente LB: Robertson had 14 tackles and a sack to help the Tritons take down La Costa Canyon 13-6 on the road.

Jake Davila, Christian QB: Davila passed for 195 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 34 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-14 win over Mission Bay.

Aaron Shebloski, Christian LB: Shebloski had eight tackles, an interception, and a sack to help the Patriots beat Mission Bay.

Darrian Anderson, Serra WR: Anderson caught eight passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s loss to American Fork (UT).

Kelvin Duran, Arleta RB: Duran rushed for 303 yards and three touchdowns in Friday’s win over University.

Roderick Robinson, Lincoln RB: Robinson rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns to help the Hornets beat Mission Hills 30-13 on Friday.

Tyler Kovalcin, Yorba Linda RB: Kovalcin ran for 112 yards and two touchdowns and also added an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to take down Orange on Thursday.

Matthew Hodges, Elsinore TE/LB: Hodges caught five passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns on offense and made 11 tackles and recovered a fumble on defense.

Andrew Torres, Hoover RB: Torres carried 13 times for 115 yards and had four touchdowns in Friday’s shutout win over Beverly Hills.

Drew Barrett, Trabuco Hills RB: Barrett rushed 29 times for 322 yards and had three touchdowns against Dana Hills on Friday.

Tyler Woodworth, Ventura WR: Woodworth caught ten passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns to help take down Dos Pueblos on Friday.

Gavin Galzote, Vista Murrieta RB: Galzote rushed for 167 yards, averaging nearly 13 yards per carry, and had four rushing touchdowns against Tesoro on Friday.

Rowan Heidt, Oak Park RB: Heidt rushed for 192 yards and had three total touchdowns in Friday’s win against Brentwood.

Tahj Owens, Loyola RB: Owens rushed 24 times for 218 yards and five touchdowns to help the Cubs beat Culver City on Friday.

Jaidyn Gamble, JW North QB: Gamble was very efficient on Friday night, completing 11 of 12 passes for 201 yards and four touchdowns on Friday.

Christian Kretz, Temecula Valley ATH: Kretz scored three touchdowns on Friday, once on the ground, once through the air, and once on an interception return.

Weston Port, San Juan Hills DE: Port, a freshman, had six tackles and four sacks in Friday’s game against Roosevelt.

Luke Degner, Laguna Beach WR: Degner caught seven passes for 112 yards and three touchdowns and also returned a punt for a touchdown in Friday’s win against Northwood.

Matthew Caldera, Vista Murrieta RB: Caldera rushed for 190 yards on 13 carries and had 2 rushing TDs, one for 74 yards, in Vista Murrieta’s victory over Tesoro.
