Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Southern California High School Athlete of the Week for Aug. 16-22 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Piper Bradley, South (Torrance) volleyball: Bradley helped lead South to three victories, totaling 51 kills.

Olivia Toland, La Canada volleyball: Toland totaled 20 kills, 18 digs and eight aces to lead La Canada to victories over Marlborough and Hart.

Maddy Castillo, Santiago (Corona) volleyball: Castillo totaled 65 assists, 9 aces and 8 digs to lead Santiago to wins over Chino Hills and Ontario Christian.

Hunter Benton, Kennedy WR: Benton had 17 catches for 221 yards and four touchdowns in a one-point loss to Long Beach Jordan during week one.

Donovan Harvey, Elsinore RB: Harvey ran for 224 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries during a week one win over Vista del Lago.

Garrett Bass-Sulpizio, La Jolla Country Day QB: Bass-Sulpizio passed for 508 yards and five touchdowns in a week one battle against Temescal Canyon.

Dominic Tubbs, Santiago QB: Tubbs had 449 passing yards and tossed five touchdowns in week one against Heritage.

Bryce Parker, Santiago WR: Parker was on the receiving end of four touchdowns from Tubbs, to go along with 12 receptions and 296 receiving yards.

Martinez Miles Jr., Cajon QB: Miles completed 10 of 12 passes on Friday night for 458 yards and eight touchdowns in a win over Carter.

Angelo Serena, Heritage RB: Serena averaged 8.2 yards per carry on Friday on his way to 222 rushing yards and four touchdowns against Santiago.

Dijon Stanley, Granada Hills Charter RB: Stanley had 217 rushing yards, including a rush of 65 yards, and five touchdowns in Friday’s win over Arleta.

Christian Washington, Helix RB: Washington had 306 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns to help the Highlanders beat Mira Mesa, 28-20.

Davis Mahood, Sunny Hills RB: Mahood carried 24 times for 209 yards and four touchdowns to help the Lancers beat Canyon 41-12.

Edward Ramos, Pacifica RB: Ramos ran for 211 yards and four touchdowns on only 20 carries in Friday’s 48-14 win over Fullerton.

Ty Pierson, Arcadia RB: Pierson showed his multi-purpose abilities on Friday accounting for 482 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns in a 43-25 win against Marina.

Gabriel Nunez, Beaumont WR: Nunez caught 15 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns in Friday’s four-point win over Orange Vista.

Samuel Cooper IV, University City QB: Cooper had 312 passing yards and four touchdowns while also adding 100 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the opening week win at Fallbrook.

Thomas Bell, San Gorgonio RB/DB: Bell rushing 258 yards and four touchdowns on Friday and also added a 52-yard pick-six in the 39-8 win over Bloomington.

Tony Carreon, Coachella Valley RB/WR: Carreon had three rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns in Friday’s 68-28 win over Canyon Springs.

Andrew Huezo, Village Christian DL: Huezo had four sacks on Friday to help the Crusaders beat La Salle, 54-25.

Jayden Virgin, Mt. Carmel TE/LB: Virgin had six tackles and 2.5 sacks on defense Friday while adding five catches for 52 yards on offense.

Bishop Blakely, Upland LB: Blakely had 13 tackles and two sacks to help the Highlanders shutout La Habra, 13-0.

Omar Logan-Ramirez, Morse DB: Logan-Ramirez four tackles and two interceptions to help the Tigers beat Bonita Vista 38-13 on Friday.

Justin Stearns, St. Augustine LB: Stearns had ten tackles and two interceptions in Friday’s opener against El Camino.

Ian Ayala, Rancho Mirage DB: Ayala had two tackles and two interception to help the Rattlers shutout Hemet 12-0 on Friday.

Jalen Shaw, Scripps Ranch RB/DB: Shaw rushed for three touchdowns on Friday and also collected two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, in a 56-20 win over San Pasqual.

Jonah Kang, Del Norte WR: Kang caught for passes on Friday night, averaging over 30 yards per catch and had three touchdowns to help the Nighthawks beat Escondido.

Dominic Nankil, Mater Dei Catholic QB: Nankil passed for 378 yards and five touchdowns to help the Crusaders beat Brawley 53-21 on Friday.

Jalen Daniels, Lincoln QB: Daniels passed for five touchdowns and added two more on the ground in his debut for the Hornets.

Matthew Jaime, San Ysidro ATH: Jaime had 154 all-purpose yards, two touchdowns, five tackles, and two forced fumbles in Friday’s win over Clairemont.

Marquis Bell, El Camino CB: Bell had an interception, three tackles – including two for loss – and two pass breakups in El Camino’s win over St. Augustiine.

Noah Mikhail, Bonita WR/SS: Only a freshman, Mikhail had 14 tackles and a 45-yard receiving touchdown in his first high school game.

Gabe Nunez, Beaumont WR: Nunez set a school record with 15 receptions for 267 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-30 win over Orange Vista.

Nate Bennett, Village Christian QB: Bennett threw for 300 yards and five touchdowns and added 59 yards rushing and another TD in Village Christian’s win over La Salle.
