Blake Griffin recorded two hits plus a complete game victory on the mound on Friday, helping to lead Citrus Valley to a 6-2 win over rival Cajon for a Southern Section championship.
Griffin held Cajon hitless until the fifth inning, and only allowed one earned run all game, coming in the sixth inning – by which point the Blackhawks already had five runs. They first got on the board in the second inning, added another run in the third, and scored three in the fifth frame to make it five, with three of them coming unearned.
The Cowboys got on the board with an unearned run themselves in the fifth quarter, and added another run in the bottom of the sixth. But Citrus Valley already had the game under control, and got another insurance run in the top of the seventh to make it 6-2, which would be the final score.
Griffin finished with two hits, as did Jacob Horner and Devin Martinez. Citrus Valley finished Southern Section play 22-8, and won the season series 3-1 against Cajon, which finished 15-6.
