SBLive’s San Diego Section Top 10 Boys Basketball Rankings: No. 1 Torrey Pines still unbeaten; Mission Bay has big week

Mission Bay registered an impressive 22-point win against Coronado that vaulted them back into SBLive’s CIF San Diego Section Top 10 for the first time since April. The Buccaneers went 2-1 last week with their loss coming against No. 4 St. Augustine.

Carlsbad dropped two spots to No. 8 after splitting back-to-back games with La Costa Canyon. The top five teams this week remain unchanged.

Our CIFSDS boys basketball rankings are compiled by SBLive reporter Bodie DeSilva and are released every Monday throughout the spring 2021 season.

1. Torrey Pines (24-0)

The Falcons beat Vista twice and clinched their ninth consecutive league championship.

2. San Marcos (22-0)

The Knights were dominant in their three wins last week. They’ll battle rival Mission Hills this week with a league title on the line.

3. Cathedral Catholic (12-2)

The Dons beat San Diego on Tuesday then battled Mater Dei on Saturday, losing by three points on the road.

4. St. Augustine (12-4)

The Saints cruised to wins over Christian and Mission Bay to move to 6-1 in Western League play.

5. El Camino (22-4)

The Wildcats have won eight straight games and will finish up the regular season with two games against Vista this week.

6. Santa Fe Christian (15-3)

Santa Fe Christian won three times last week including a four-point win over tenth-ranked Bonita Vista on Saturday.

7. Mission Hills (16-4)

The Grizzlies travel to Francis Parker in a strong late season non-league battle before preparing for No. 2 San Marcos twice at the end of the week.

Last week: 8

8. Carlsbad (13-7)

The Lancers split their two games against La Costa Canyon to finish up their league slate. They’ll host No. 4 St. Augustine on Tuesday night.

9. Mission Bay (15-7)

The Buccaneers sandwiched wins over Coronado and Foothills Christian around a league loss to St. Augustine.

10. Bonita Vista (11-5)

The Barons picked up three league wins during the week before falling to Santa Fe Christian on Saturday. They’ll play Olympian and San Ysidro to finish up the regular season.
