Indoor high school sports will be played at LAUSD high schools beginning April 19th, according to a District memo sent to principals and ADs on Wednesday. Read the memo below.
According to the memo, games/meets can start on April 19th in boys and girls basketball, boys and girls volleyball, wrestling and swimming. Gyms can only be filled to 10% of their capacity. Two spectators are allowed to attend games/meets per each athlete and they must be from the same household. Spectators, coaches and players must wear masks at all times. Weekly COVID-19 testing is required for athletes in swimming and volleyball. Basketball and wrestling require testing 48 hours in advance of a game/match as well as a weekly test.
“This means everything,” Grant boys basketball coach Tarek Abdelsameia told SBLive on Wednesday.
The LA City Section confirmed that all spring season team sports will have postseasons on Monday. Those include boys and girls basketball, baseball and softball, boys and girls lacrosse, boys and girls soccer and boys and girls volleyball.
The only sports where postseasons are currently in question are track, swim, and wrestling due to LA County restrictions.
