TOP 5 RUNNING BACKS IN LA CITY SECTION

5. Kaden Jones – Reseda – Junior

Jones rushed for 717 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore. He helped lead Reseda to a Division 1 City title and state championship appearance in 2019.

4. Tre Samuel – Westchester – Senior

Samuel had a terrific 2019 season rushing for 1,271 yards and 17 TDs. He averaged a whopping 10.9 yards per carry. Samuel will be in the running for Western League MVP this spring.

3. Jorge Hernandez – Canoga Park – Senior

Hernandez was a major part of Canoga Park’s Division 2 City title run in 2019. He rushed for 1,310 yards and 26 touchdowns as a junior.

2. Andre Watkins – Lincoln – Junior

Statistically, Watkins had the best season out of any running back in the LA City Section in 2019. He rushed for 1,963 yards and 26 touchdowns pushing Lincoln to the Division 3 LA City Section semifinals.

1. Jakob Galloway – Banning – Junior

Galloway is the top running back in the LA City Section due to his size (5-foot-10, 220 pounds) and punishing running style. The junior has already secured scholarship offers from Fresno State, Kansas State, Nevada and Utah. He also plays linebacker at Banning and could see some reps at QB this spring. Wherever he lines up, he’ll be a player to watch.

Other names to watch: Caleb McCarty (Cleveland, senior), Trayshawn Jones (Washington Prep, senior), Jimmy Romero (Roosevelt, senior), Felix Rodriguez (San Fernando, senior) and Deiontae Wilson* (Carson, senior)

*May not play this spring
