LA VERNE – Damien and St. John Bosco kicked off the return of California high school football with a scrimmage on Saturday night. Both teams are scheduled to officially kick off their 2021 spring seasons next week.
Damien showed toughness and stayed competitive against the reigning national champion in front of a socially-distanced home crowd. St. John Bosco, while rusty, looked the part of one of the top teams in the country.
Rayshon Luke started things off with a kick return touchdown for St. John Bosco, which was followed by two kick returns TDs from Damien. Watch the highlights below.

Bosco had numerous hard hits for sacks and tackles for loss up front, including this play-ender from LB Andrew Simpson.
The Braves also had touchdowns in the air coming from Pierce Clarkson to Logan Booher and Katin Houser to Matayo Uiagalelei, respectively.
Damien officially start its season Friday, March 12 against another Trinity League powerhouse, Servite. Meanwhile, St. John Bosco will host reigning CIFSS Division 2 champion Sierra Canyon.
