Checking in on Class of 2020 California high school stars who are playing Division I men’s college basketball

The 2020-21 college basketball season kicked off last month and several Class of 2020 high school stars from CIF schools started their college careers. SBLive’s Connor Morrissette takes a look at how the first few weeks of the season have gone for the freshmen. The list is in alphabetical order.

Chibuzo Agbo Jr. – Texas Tech – St. Augustine HS (San Diego)

Agbo has already played in six games for Texas Tech. He scored five points in his debut against Northwestern State.

Amound Anderson – Cal State Northridge – Leuzinger HS

Anderson scored 50 points in a Classic At Damien game against King/Drew as a senior at Leuzinger. He’s played in three games so far for Cal State Northridge, scoring 12 points in a win against Seattle University on Nov. 30.

Brandon Angel – Stanford – Torrey Pines HS

Angel played 12 minutes in a win over North Carolina A&T on Dec. 6. He scored his first career points on the Cardinal win.

Devin Askew – Kentucky – Mater Dei HS

Askew has started all four of Kentucky’s games so far in 2020. He’s averaging six points and two assists per game.

Marcus Bagley – Arizona State – Sheldon HS (Sacrament)

Bagley has started four of ASU’s games this season, but missed their most recent game against San Diego State with an injury. He’s put in 14.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

Tommy Ball – Idaho State – Oak Ridge HS

Ball hasn’t made his debut for Idaho State yet.

Dawson Baker – UC Irvine – Capistrano Valley HS

Baker is a freshman this season following a two year Mission trip to Guam. He’s averaging 12.6 points per game for UC Irvine so far in 2020.

Luke Barrett – St. Mary’s – Piedmont HS

Barrett made his St. Mary’s debut against South Dakota St., playing one minute.

Robby Beasley – Montana – Dublin HS

Beasley hasn’t played yet for the Grizzlies.

Francesco Borra – UC Davis – JSerra HS

Borra hasn’t seen the floor for UC Davis yet.

BJ Boston – Kentucky – Sierra Canyon HS

Arguably the best player on this list, Boston is averaging 14.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for Kentucky.

Monty Bowser – Cal – Bishop O’Dowd HS

Bowser has played 29 minutes in four games for Cal.

Colby Brooks – Gonzaga – Loyola HS

Brooks is a walk-on for Gonzaga. He’s yet to debut.

Judah Brown – St. Mary’s – Pacifica Christian HS

Brown hit his first career three in a win over Texas Southern.

Wynton Brown – Northern Arizona – St. John Bosco HS

Brown has played in two games for Northern Arizona in 2020.

Xavion Brown – Appalachian State – Sheldon HS

Brown has played in three games for Appalachian State in 2020. He’s averaging 1.7 points per game.

Lamont Butler – San Diego State – Riverside Poly HS

Butler played 12 minutes for 5-0 San Diego State against Arizona State on Dec. 10 scoring two points.

Demetrius Calip Jr. – University of Illinois at Chicago – Taft HS

Calip hasn’t played for UIC yet.

Tyree Campbell – Cal Baptist – Etiwanda HS

Campbell hasn’t made his debut for Cal Baptist yet.

Nick Carlson – Cal Poly – Helix HS

Carlson has played in one game so far for Cal Poly. He scored five points.

Jayce Catchings – UC Irvine – Rancho Christian HS

Catchings has played in three games for UC Irvine. He’s averaging 3.7 points per game.

Logan Cremonesi – UCLA – Mater Dei HS

Cremonesi is a walk-on at UCLA. He’s played in one game.

Josh Christopher – Arizona State – Mayfair HS

Christopher, last year’s Southern Section Division 1 Player of the Year, is averaging 16.6 points per game for the Sun Devils.

Jaylen Clark – UCLA – Etiwanda HS

Clark has played in four games to begin his UCLA career. He scored six points in a win over San Diego on Dec. 9.

Hugo Clarkin – San Jose State – JSerra HS

Clarkin started and played 19 minutes in San Jose State’s season opening win over Fresno Pacific.

Austin Cook – Idaho State – Damien HS

Cook has played in one game so far for Idaho State.

Boubacar Coulibaly – USC – San Gabriel Academy HS

In four games played, Coulibaly is averaging two points per game.

DJ Davis – UC Irvine – Riverside Poly HS

Davis is a key bench player for UC Irvine. He averages 20 minutes per game and nine points per game.

Paris Dawson – Portland State – Corona Centennial HS

Dawson has played in both of Portland State’s games in 2020. He’s averaging 5.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Keith Dinwiddie – San Diego State – Fairfax HS

In his two games played in 2020 for SDSU, Dinwiddie is shooting 54.5% from three point range.

Freddie Dybala – Cal Baptist – Corona Centennial HS

Dybala has played in one of Cal Baptist’s four games to begin the season.

Abe Eagle – Gonzaga – Chaminade HS

Eagle is a walk on at Gonzaga. He hasn’t played yet.

Brandon Egemo – LSU – University HS

Egemo is a walk-on at LSU. He’s seen limited minutes so far in his career.

Ryan Evans – Cal Poly – Mater Dei HS

Evans hasn’t seen the floor for Cal Poly so far.

Terren Frank – TCU – Sierra Canyon HS

Frank has played in three games so far in 2020 for TCU.

Luke Frasso – Lolyola Marymount – Peninsula HS

Frasso hasn’t played for LMU yet.

Teiano Hardee – Sacramento State – Vanden HS

Hardee scored 16 points in a debut win over Bethesda University in November.

Dominick Harris – Gonzaga – Rancho Christian HS

Dominick Harris

Harris played three minutes in Gonzaga’s win over Kansas in November.

Andre Henry – UC Irvine – St. Francis HS

Henry is averaging six points and 2.6 assists per game for UC Irvine.

Mason Hooks – Princeton – Harvard-Westlakee HS

Hooks chose to take a gap year and enroll at Princeton in 2021.

Jason Gallant – San Diego – St. Francis HS

Gallant hasn’t played so far this season.

Tibet Gorener – Arizona – Orange Lutheran HS

Gorener has played in two games as a freshman so far.

Robert Hutchens – Seattle – Arroyo Grande HS

Hutchens hasn’t played for Seattle as a freshman.

Dishon Jackson – Washington State – St. Patrick-St. Vincent HS

Jackson has played in two games for Washington State in his freshman season.

DJ Jackson – Alabama State – Etiwanda HS

Jackson hasn’t made his debut for Alabama State yet.

Isaiah Johnson – Oregon State – Bishop Montgomery HS

Johnson has played in all five of OSU’s games so far in 2020. He’s averaging three points and 1.4 rebounds per game.

Jaren Johnson – Dartmouth – Lynwood HS

The Ivy League cancelled its season due to COVID-19, so Johnson hasn’t played yet.

Jadon Jones – Long Beach State – St. Anthony HS

Jones scored eight points in a loss to San Francisco on Dec. 10.

Carter Mahaney – Northern Arizona – Camplindo HS

Mahaney has played in two games for Northern Arizona in his freshman season.

Ian Martinez – Utah – JSerra HS

Martinez has played in two games for Utah this year.

Braxton Meah – Fresno State – San Joaquin Memorial HS

Meah played in Fresno State’s first game of the season. He scored three points in a win over William Jessup.

Sebastian Mendoza – San Jose State – Hillcrest HS

Mendoza played six minutes in San Jose State’s first game of the season against Fresno Pacific.

Evan Mobley – USC – Rancho Christian HS

Evan Mobley, Rancho Christian

Mobley, another one of the top players on this list, is averaging 17.6 points and nine rebounds per game for USC.

Bryce Monroe – Sam Houston State – Bishop Riordan HS

Monroe has played in all six games for Sam Houston State so far in 2020. He’s averaging 7.2 points per game.

Joseph Octave – Air Force – Mary Star of the Sea HS

Octave has played in one game so far for Air Force this season.

Josh O’Garro – Oklahoma – Santa Clarita Christian HS

O’Garro hasn’t played for the Sooners so far in his freshman season.

Fidelis Okereke – Cal State Northridge – King/Drew HS

Fidelis Okereke

Okereke, last year’s SBLive LA City Section Player of the Year, has played in three games for Cal State Northridge. He scored eight points in a win over Seattle University on Nov. 30.

Camren Pierce – Cal Poly – Etiwanda HS

Pierce is shooting 65% from the field for Cal Poly. He’s averaging nine points per game.

Aidan Prukop – Cal Poly – Mater Dei HS

In two games played, Prukop is averaging six points per contest.

Scotty Prunty – San Diego – Cathedral Catholic HS

Prunty hasn’t played so far this season.

Kailen Rains – Cal State Northridge – San Ysidro HS

Rains made his debut for Cal State Northridge against Westmont on Nov. 25.

Cade and Austin Ronzone – Arizona State – Bishop O’Dowd HS

Both Ronzone’s are walk-ons for ASU and haven’t played in 2020.

Beon Riley – Hawaii – Cathedral Catholic HS

Hawaii won’t begin its season until Dec. 27, so Riley hasn’t played yet.

Anthony Roy – University of San Francisco – Dublin HS

In three games played, Roy is averaging 5.3 points per game.

Kobe Sanders – Cal Poly – San Diego Christian HS

Sanders leads Cal Poly in minutes per game and is second in scoring, averaging 11.7 points per game.

Te’Jon Sawyer – Cal Baptist – Salesian College Prep HS

Sawyer has played in all four of Cal Baptist’s games this season, averaging six minutes per game. He scores two points per game.

Austin Sacks – Santa Clara – Oakwood HS

Sacks hasn’t played for Santa Clara yet.

L Simpson – Loyola Marymount – Sierra Canyon HS

Simpson hasn’t played for LMU yet.

Clark Slajchert – Pennsylvania – Oak Park HS

The Ivy League cancelled its season due to COVID-19, so Slajchert hasn’t played yet.

Matt Solomon – Cal State Northridge – Newbury Park HS

Solomon has played in one game for Cal State Northridge.

Brantly Stevenson – Cal Poly – Etiwanda HS

Stevenson ranks third in minutes played this season for Cal Poly. He’s averaging six points and three assists per game. He’s shooting 33% from three point range.

JT Tan – Rolling Hills Prep – Lehigh HS

Lehigh starts its season in January, so Tan hasn’t made his debut yet.

Devin Tillis – UNLV – Windward HS

Windward basketball

Tillis has played in all five games for UNLV in 2020. He’s averaging 1.8 points per game.

Ziaire Williams – Stanford – Sierra Canyon HS

Williams is the highest ranked prospect in Stanford history. He’a averaging 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game to begin the season.

Brandon Whitney – Montana – Alemany HS

Whitney is the second leading scorer for Montana putting in 9.8 points per game.

Atin Wright – Cal State Northridge – Fairmont Prep HS

Wright has played sparingly through three games for Northridge so far this season
