San Diego has had a strong history of football players at the collegiate and professional level for many years.
Marcus Allen (Lincoln), Terrell Davis (Lincoln), Junior Seau (Oceanside), John Lynch (Torrey Pines), Ricky Williams (Patrick Henry), and Reggie Bush (Helix) are among many notable football players that started off their careers in San Diego before heading off to do big things in college and the NFL.
The 2019 NFL season features 21 players from San Diego and several coaches including Washington Redskins Offensive Coordinator Kevin O’Connell (La Costa Canyon).
La Costa Canyon leads San Diego with four players in the NFL this year including brothers Scott and David Quessenberry.
Week 1 in the NFL saw touchdowns from Kenny Stills (La Costa Canyon) and Damien Williams (Mira Mesa) while Cory Littleton (Mt. Miguel) had arguably the best defensive performance in the league when he tallied 14 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception for the Rams.
Joe Cardona (Granite Hills) is entering his fifth season as the New England Patriots long snapper. He’s recorded only three tackles in his career but has earned two Super Bowl Rings for his efforts.
