Every week during the 2020 football season, SBLive Arkansas will rank the top high school football teams in every classification.
Here are the 3A rankings as compiled by SBLive reporters Connor Morrissette and Lance Smith.
1. Harding Academy (4-1)
After two weeks off, the Wildcats continue their title defense against Melbourne. The Bearkatz actually have a better record than the reigning champion at 5-1, but anyone in the division is an underdog versus Harding Academy until further notice.
2. Prescott (5-0)
Prescott has been able to salvage its season quite well despite three canceled games. The Curley Wolves are undefeated and have now played three weeks in a row. They’ll be heavy favorites to finish the season 7-0 with Bismarck and Jessieville on deck.
3. Newport (8-0)
Every week for a while now, we’ve mentioned that the unbeaten Greyhounds were the first team to whatever win total they were at. Now they’re the first team to eight wins, but if they want to get to nine first, they have to go through No. 1 Harding Academy. First, Newport gets an open week.
4. Hoxie (6-0)
While Hoxie hasn’t had the hardest schedule, it takes care of business every week without fail. Last week the Mustangs reiterated that against Piggott, and this week they’ll likely do it again against winless Manila.
5. McGehee (5-0)
McGehee has had to miss two of its best matchups of the season in Drew Central and now Rison, which is a shame. But the Owls have made the most of every game, with every game seeming to be a statement that they’re a major playoff threat. Most recently they beat Harmony Grove thoroughly, and they will be favored this week against Barton.
Melbourne, Rison, Paris, Harmony Grove
