SBLive Top 20 Power Rankings: Little Rock Catholic debuts

Here are SBLive’s Top 20 Arkansas high school football rankings for the week of Sept. 21.

Our statewide football rankings, which span all classifications, are released every Monday throughout the 2020 high school football season. The rankings are compiled by SBLive reporters Connor Morrissette, Bodie DeSilva and Lance Smith.

SBLIVE POWER RANKINGS: ARKANSAS TOP 20

Sept. 21, 2020

1. Bryant (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: No. 1

Bryant beat Trinity Christian (Texas) 44-40 in a thriller Friday. Xavier Foote turned a screen pass into a 54-yard touchdown.

2. North Little Rock (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: No. 2

NLR beat West Memphis 35-0 to begin the JR Eldridge era with a 3-0 record.

3. Bentonville (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: No. 3

Cade Foster caught an 80-yard touchdown pass in Bentonville’s 35-28 win over Mill Valley (Kan.).

4. Pulaski Academy (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: No. 4

Pulaski Academy running back Joe Himon II took a direct snap 70 yards for a touchdown in a 31-20 win over Life Christian (Va.).

5. Greenwood (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: No. 5

Hunter Houston found Caden Brown for a 12-yard touchdown in the third quarter in Greenwood’s 23-12 win over Choctaw (Okla.) on Friday.

6. Cabot (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: No. 6

Undefeated Cabot was off last week and will play No. 9 Little Rock Catholic on Friday.

7. Bentonville West (Centerton) (2-1)

Last week’s ranking: No. 7

Bentonville West was off last week and will play No. 19 Fayetteville on Friday.

8. Parkview (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: No. 9

Arkansas commit Landon Rogers ran for four touchdowns and completed 11 of 18 passes for 147 yards in Parkview’s 28-6 win over Pine Bluff.

9. Little Rock Catholic (2-1)

Last week’s ranking: NR

Little Rock Catholic debuts this week after a 35-28 win over No. 20 Benton.

10. Robinson (Little Rock) (2-1)

Last week’s ranking: No. 10

Robinson was off last week and will play Fountain Lake on Friday.

11. Conway (2-1)

Last week’s ranking: 11

Conway was off last week and will play Little Rock Southwest this week.

12. Lake Hamilton (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: 12

Lake Hamilton’s tailbacks had a field day in Thursday’s 38-28 win over Hot Springs. Tevin Woodley led the way with two scores.

13. Arkadelphia (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: 13

Arkadelphia was off last week and will play Nashville this week.

14. Maumelle (2-1)

Last week’s ranking: 14

Maumelle was off last week and will play No. 15 LR Christian this week.

15. LR Christian (2-1)

Last week’s ranking: 15

LR Christian was off last week and will play No. 14 Maumelle this week.

16. Wynne (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: 16

Wynne was off last week and will play Brookland this week.

17. Jonesboro (1-2)

Last week’s ranking: 17

Jonesboro was off last week. Quarterback Cross Jumper broke his leg in the Hurricanes’ 49-28 loss to No. 11 Conway two weeks ago. That is a major loss for one of 6A’s top teams.

18. Harding Academy (3-0)

Last week’s ranking: No. 18

Harding Academy has won all three of its games by at least three scores following Friday’s 38-7 win over Camden Harmony Grove.

19. Fayetteville (0-3)

Last week’s ranking: No. 19

Fayetteville has played a very challenging schedule, losing to No. 11 Conway, Owasso (Okla.) and No. 2 North Little Rock. Fayetteville will play No. 7 Bentonville West this week.

20. Benton (1-2)

Last week’s ranking: No. 8

Benton’s 35-28 defeat to Little Rock Catholic moves the Panthers to No. 20 this week.

Dropped out: Har-Ber

Moved in: LR Catholic

Other teams we’re watching: Magnolia, Fort Smith Northside, Boonville, Fordyce, Nashville, Shiloh Christian, Harrison, Prescott, Newport, Har-Ber and Watson Chapel.
