The Bryant Hornets won their 20th consecutive game Friday night with a 44-40 victory over visiting Trinity Christian (Texas).
Led by quarterback Shedeur Sanders — the son of former NFL star Deion Sanders, who serves as offensive coordinator — Trinity Christian (3-2) is playing a national schedule this season with games coming up against Bishop Sycamore (Ohio) and Dunbar (Florida). Sanders is a 6-foot-1 pro style quarterback who is committed to Florida Atlantic.
Bryant, the two-time defending Arkansas 7A state champions, bolted to a 28-6 first-half lead but had to withstand a furious comeback from Sanders and Co. that saw Trinity take a 40-38 lead with 9:09 left in the game. QB Austin Ledbetter scored the game-winning TD on an eight-yard run with 4:26 left and Bryant’s defense held on.
