Jackson QB Walt Taylor III voted SBLive’s Alabama High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Jackson quarterback Walt Taylor III for being voted SBLive’s Alabama High School Athlete of the Week for Sep. 13-19!

The senior passed for 260 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing TD to lead Jackson to a 40-8 win over Selma.

Taylor ran away with this week’s honor, receiving 77.78% of the total vote.

Jeremiah Alexander, Thompson DE

Alexander recovered a fumble and deflected a pass that led to a pick-six to help Thompson beat Hewitt-Trussville 42-9.

Joseph Anderson, Montevallo RB

Anderson rushed 12 times for 271 yards and three TDs to lead Montevallo to a 49-8 win over Wilcox Central.

Brendon Byrd, Spanish Fort QB

Byrd rushed for two TDs and passed for two TDs to lead Spanish Fort to a 27-7 win over Baldwin County.

Jabari Collier, Center Point QB

Collier rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns and added a passing TD in Center Point’s 40-11 win over Moody.

Karmello English, Central (Phenix) WR

English caught eight passes for 103 yards and a touchdown and returned a kick 51 yards for a touchdown in Central’s 36-27 win over Enterprise.

Brandon Fussell, Guntersville WR

Fussell hauled in six passes for 153 yards and three touchdowns in Guntersville’s 58-6 win over Douglas.

Conner Harrell, Thompson QB

Harrell threw for 206 yards and four touchdowns on just 23 pass attempts to lead Thompson over Hewitt-Trussville.

Owen Hendry, Millry QB

Hendry threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing TD to lead Millry to a 62-6 win over Choctaw.

Andrew Hunter, Randolph QB

Hunter rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 123 yards and three more TDs to lead Randolph to a 35-21 win over Madison County.

Kason Jones, Jackson-Olin RB

Jones rushed nine times for 180 yards and three touchdowns in Jackson-Olin’s 36-28 win over Pinson Valley.

Quinshon Judkins, Pike Road RB

Judkins ran for 120 yards and four TDs to lead Pike Road to a 55-0 win over Rehobeth.

Omari Kelly, Hewitt-Trussville WR

Kelly hauled in 10 receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown in Hewitt-Trussville’s loss to Thompson.

Jamal Mayers, James Clemens Safety

Mayers had a pick-six late in the game to help lead James Clemens to a 43-40 win over Huntsville.

Daniel McCormick, Tabernacle WR

McCormick caught two passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns in Tabernacle’s 68-22 win over Victory Christian.

CJ Miller, Gadsden City RB

Miller carried the ball 26 times for 245 yards and three touchdowns to lead Gadsden City to a 29-26 win over Spain Park.

Mike Ngei, Homewood DL

Ngei forced a fumble and returned it for a touchdown in Homewood’s 49-14 win over Woodlawn.

Ed Osley, Clay-Chalkville RB

Osley rushed for 220 yards and two touchdowns and caught a TD pass in Clay-Chalkville’s 50-7 win over Minor.

Chris Pearson, Orange Beach RB

Pearson carried the ball 20 times for 190 yards and two touchdowns in Orange Beach’s 39-12 win over Greene County.

Norris Pemberton, Trinity WR

Pemberton returned a punt 45 yards for a touchdown in Trinity’s 52-0 win over Pike County.

Ronnie Royal III, Gulf Shores RB

Royal carried the ball 27 times for 183 yards and three touchdowns in Gulf Shores’ 27-13 win over Robertsdale.

Josh Ruff, Leeds WR

Ruff had 146 yards receiving and two touchdowns in Leeds’ 41-0 win over Hayden.

Cosey Scarebrook, Bob Jones ATH

Scarebrook had a pick-six in Bob Jones’ 29-21 win over Florence.

J.C. Sivley, Helena WR

Sivley caught five passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning TD pass with less than two minutes to play in Helena’s 37-34 win over Pelham.

Jayven Willliams, Baker WR

Williams caught two passes for 120 yards and two TDs in Baker’s 43-0 win over Mary G. Montgomery.

Alex Young, Pleasant Grove QB

Young threw for 318 yards and five touchdowns on just 12 passing attempts to lead Pleasant Grove to a 55-12 win over Carver-Birmingham.

Deuce Spurlock, Madison Academy ATH

Spurlock had 21 tackles, 6 tackles for loss and 3 sacks in a 33-0 win over North Jackson.
